Matias Riccitelli is a madman in Mendoza. Young and full of energy, Matias is crafting a range of wines that are challenging many of the preconceptions of the Mendoza region. His wines are made with a gentle hand and show a more raw and unpolished side of the region. That is to say, his wines feel like they were grown, not made. In a sea of over-ripe, over-oaked Mendoza Malbec, they offer a refreshing change of pace.
The Hey Malbec! is his wine meant for early consumption. It's an excellent example of fresh-faced Malbec that is near impossible to put down.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Malbec is the Argentinian flagship varietal, we want our Malbec to be a fresh representative of its kind. That’s why our harvests start in the middle of March and they end by the first week of April.
From our traditional sites in Lujan de Cuyo till the heights of Uco Valley, passing through clay soils up to calcareous rocks we look for freshness and purity of a vibrant Malbec.
We vinify destemmed grapes and whole clusters without adding any strange element at a temperature of 25º to 27º Degrees Centigrade during several weeks. Its aging continues in concrete vats."

NZIWS 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"Wonderfully ripe and expressive, the bouquet shows blackberry, blueberry jam, thyme, and cake spice characters with nuances of dark mushroom and cedar. The palate is generously flavoured and plump, displaying fleshly mouthfeel and silky texture, finishing long and delectable."
92/100 James Suckling (2018 Vintage)
"This has attractive, thirst-quenching appeal with instantly delicious summer berries in abundance. The palate has a long, lithe and juicy feel with a succulent and silky palate that really delivers fresh appeal."
91/100 Tim Atkin MW (2018 Vintage)
"Unwooded for the first time in 2018, but as full of bounce and blackberry fruit as ever, Hey! combines grapes from Luján and the Uco Valley in a juicy, supple bundle of fun. Sweet and appealing, this is Malbec at its immediate best: the kind of thing that makes you want to pour a glass into a tumbler and put on some of your favourite music with the sound ramped up to 11."
