If you like big, voluptuous Chardonnays the Arsonist is for you. There is enough sumptuous fruit and toasty oak to satisfy the classic-California Chard lover.
Winery Notes (2018 Vintage)
"The Arsonist wines showcase what we do best in the Dunnigan Hills. Both wines are sourced from our best vineyard sites and vinified in our finest barrels. We treat every small lot as a unique wine, nurturing its special qualities. At the final selection, the best barrels from the best lots come together to make truly exceptional wines.
Classically rich and luscious with dense flavours of butterscotch, Crème brûlée, honey and pineapple. An underlayer of toasty oak and caramel from barrel aging adds complexity. Tropical flavours, so characteristic of the Dunnigan Hills appellation, add a fresh balance. The creamy texture and bright, crisp fruit linger in the finish."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"Combining opulence with graceful sophistication, this is a stunning California chardonnay filled with delectable flavours. The fragrant bouquet shows golden peach, vanilla, spicy oak and oatmeal characters with a light touch of citrus zest. The powerful, concentrated palate exhibits outstanding depth and layers rich texture, leading to a persistent seamless finish. At its best: now to 2028. Drink 2021 – 2028"
Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast (2018 Vintage)
"Spicy, oaky, buttery tones dominate this bold, full-bodied, plush-textured wine, as toasted baguette and white-pepper aromas lead to ripe pear and butterscotch flavours."
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, December 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"A bold and richly scented bouquet with aromas of brazil nut and vanilla, roasted yellow stone fruits and baked pear. There’s a baked custard and brown spice scent adding power and intensity. On the palate – full-bodied , creamy, warm, balanced and flavourful. The tastes of custard and peach, vanilla and apple, pear and baking spices combine to complete this wine with great success. Balanced and well made with great drinking from 2021 through 2026."
