Here’s a sharp importer clearance deal on a seriously accomplished South American Chardonnay. Many of you will already know La Mascota from their consistently impressive Malbec, so when we were offered this parcel at clearance pricing, we tasted it, loved it, and secured what we could to pass on the value.
Stylistically, this sits neatly between the richness of a classic Californian Chardonnay and the freshness of cooler-climate expressions giving very much the best of both worlds. There’s ripe golden fruit up front, layered with nutty, toasty, creamy notes from oak, all kept in check by a line of bright acidity that carries the wine beautifully through a long, clean finish.

Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"La Mascota Chardonnay has been produced from our finest vineyard, La Mascota, located in Cruz de Piedra, Maipú, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine regions in Mendoza.
This is a complex and well-balanced chardonnay, showcasing light yellow colour with distinctive green hues. The aromas of pears and pineapples are enhanced with a subtle layer of sweet vanilla from barrel ageing. The rich and round mouth-feel ends with a long, crisp and clean finish."

"This has hints of toast and chamomile to the apple and baked-pear aromas. It's full-bodied, lightly nutty and toasty, but fresh, too. Drink now."
