Winemaker, Brent Marris (Marisco, Ned…) knows a thing or two about making tasty Pinot Gris. The Leefield Station vineyard project is a relatively recent addition to his range. Purchased in 2013 for partial vineyard conversion, the Leefield Station is an iconic Sheep and Beef station located in the heart of the Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. This is a genuinely dry style with rich spice, pineapple and pear flavours.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"This wine brings you aromas of honeysuckle, white peaches and pears with subtle notes of spice. The palate has a fresh minerality accompanied by an explosion of flavours of nashi pear and melon, developing in a well balanced wine with a deliciously persistent finish. A highly versatile food wine; the 2023 Leefield Station Pinot Gris will provide a delicious pairing with the sweetness and slight spiciness of sticky San Choy Bao pork rissoles."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Bright and engaging bouquet, lively varietal and fruity with scents of green and brown skinned pears, some apple and quince highlight then a lick of citrus. Fruity and just dry on the palate with a satin texture, contrasting acid line and mealy almost fine chalky mouthfeel, and a whisper of lees texture. Balanced and well made with a luscious fruity finish. Best drinking from 2024 through 2027+. Excellent value."
