Chateau Branaire-Ducru is located on the left bank of Bordeaux, in the south of the Saint Julien appellation. Patrick Maroteaux has owned the property since 1988 and he has invested heavily in new plantings as well as installing a spanking new cuvier and an ultra-modern chai.
The wine is full-bodied and well-structured, with refined tannins and a balanced acidity that provide a lively freshness. Flavors of blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry dominate, intertwined with nuances of licorice and baking spices. The mid-palate reveals a velvety texture and a touch of minerality, contributing to its complexity.
91/100 James Suckling (2019 Vintage)
"Savoury red showing wet earth, olives, dark berry fruit and graphite on the nose. I like the salty undertones. It’s medium-bodied, juicy and nicely integrated with fine tannins. Drink now or hold."
