Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"The pale lemon appearance underlies a wine with wonderful intensity. Aromatically the wine shows fresh citrus notes of lemon, lime, tropical fruits, guava, and subtle spice. On the palate enjoy hints of citrus, nashi pear and lemon barley. This wine has wonderful complexity; its lively acidity is in harmony with the sustained finish.
Fruit for this wine came from a vineyard at the entrance to Marlborough’s Waihopai valley. Using three separate parcels, our winemaking team utilised German oak Fuder Barrels, granite and stainless tanks to create a unique expression of Marlborough Riesling. Fermentation in stainless steel at a relatively low temperature helps capture aromatics. German oak Fuder barrels create a warmer fermentation, adding complexity to the wine, while the granite tanks bring minerality. The wine rested on fine lees for a period prior to bottling in October 2021.
