From the Gourmet Traveller Wine Winemaker of the Year 2021 comes this benchmark Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Always hugely popular, it is a 'go-to' wine for many and its success is based on Jules' passion for the variety having crafted some of the most successful Sauvignon Blancs over many years. 2024 is no exception.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Explosive aromas of passionfruit, ruby red grapefruit, and juicy white peach jump out of the glass, followed by hints of fresh lemongrass. This in-your-face drop captures the essence of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Ripe, exuberant citrus and passionfruit flavours combine with fresh lemongrass. The palate is dry, complex, and powerful, giving way to a concentrated, salivating finish."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2024 (2024 Vintage)
"Intense and pungent, powerful and refreshing bouquet of passionfruit and red apples, mandarin peel, crisp green pear, nettles and cape-gooseberry. A soon as the wine touches the palate I am salivating with plush, ripe fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet, there’s a fresh herb quality, a salinity and fresh basil herb suggestion. Delicious and ready. Best drinking from late 2024 through 2026+."
Reviews for the 2023 vintage below…
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Gorgeously aromatic and inviting, the bouquet shows nectarine, green rockmelon, lime peel and white floral aromas, followed by a delightfully juicy palate offering bright fruit intensity with fine texture and refreshing acidity, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2026."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper, July 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Designed as an "upfront, in-your-face drop", the bright, light lemon/green 2023 vintage was grown in the lower Wairau Valley, Awatere Valley and Southern Valleys ('avoiding the main Wairau Valley floor sites.') Tank-fermented, it is mouthfilling and dry (2.6 grams/litre of residual sugar), with crisp, penetrating tropical fruit and herbaceous flavours, showing excellent ripeness, vigour and depth. On the shelves by June 2023, it's an aromatic, punchy, finely balanced wine, boding well for the quality of the new season's Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs."
