"A beautiful perfume of ripe blackberry, black cherry, boysenberry, and dark plums, layered with hints of violets, vanilla, and cocoa spice, alongside subtle earthy notes and a whisper of liquorice. A big, generous mouthful of concentrated dark berry fruit, supported by firm, grippy tannins give a wine with structure and power. Spicy oak and juicy acidity round out the palate, promising the ability to age gracefully for many years.
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were grown in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. The fruit was predominantly hand-harvested over a two week period from mid to late March as optimum ripeness was reached in each block. At the winery, the fruit was de-stemmed into small open-top fermenters and cold soaked for 5 to 10 days. The juice was then fermented with indigenous yeasts, and plunged by hand once a day to extract a good amount of colour and tannins. It was pressed immediately upon reaching dryness and a portion was transferred to French oak barrels for maturation. After a full malolactic fermentation in spring, the wine was bottled in late March 2025."
