Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Released in October 2024 the Johanneshof Gewürztraminer 2024 shines in the glass with its pale straw colour. The floral bouquet of honeysuckle, rose petals and violets is underpinned with aromas of white stone fruit and pears. Extremely powerful on the nose and palate, it features a weighty mouth feel and stunning tropical fruit characters. Nuances of peaches and mangos grace the palate with gorgeously floral tones of roses and Turkish delight.
Beautifully textured and well balanced with some natural sweetness. This unctuous wine seduces with its elegance and power. It’s well deserving of its name – this German variety ‘Gewürztraminer’ translates to ‘Spicey Traminer” – its spiciness most notable in its smooth, lingering finish."

5 Stars Michael Cooper, February 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"This beauty consistently ranks among the country's greatest Gewürztraminers. Hand-harvested in the Wairau Valley, the bright yellow/green 2022 vintage is a powerful wine with a perfumed, spicy, vaguely honeyed bouquet. Rich and smooth, it has deep stonefruit and spice flavours, a hint of honey, a gentle splash of sweetness (9.7 grams/litre of residual sugar) and finely balanced acidity. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2024+."
