Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2022 & 2023
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"The Johanneshof Gewürztraminer 2022 delights with its golden colour and stunning aromatic bouquet of flowers with subtle exotic spice and a hint of sandalwood on the nose. Richly floral aromas greet your senses on the first sip with gentle kisses of rosewater, ginger and honeysuckle. Beautifully textured and well balanced, seducing with a touch of sweetness. This wine is powerful and elegant, with an lengthy finish."
5 Stars Michael Cooper, February 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"This beauty consistently ranks among the country's greatest Gewürztraminers. Hand-harvested in the Wairau Valley, the bright yellow/green 2022 vintage is a powerful wine with a perfumed, spicy, vaguely honeyed bouquet. Rich and smooth, it has deep stonefruit and spice flavours, a hint of honey, a gentle splash of sweetness (9.7 grams/litre of residual sugar) and finely balanced acidity. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2024+."

NZIWS Judges Comments (2021 Vintage)
"Exotically perfumed with notes of rose petals, violets and zesty orange. The palate is rich with distinctive notes of lychee, orange, peach, ginger and a hint of five spice. A perfect companion for spiced dishes – or enjoy as an aperitif."
5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, March 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Moderately sweet gewürztraminer with concentrated Turkish Delight, white rose, lychee and potpourri characters. Creamy-textured wine with just a hint of peppery tannins. An intensely varietal wine."
