Henriqes & Henriques 10-Year Old Sercial is made from 100% Sercial, aged for at least ten years in the traditional canteiro method. Of the four noble varieties, Sercial is the most dry, producing wines with razor-sharp, mouth-watering acidity. Aromas of dried orange, blanched almonds and sea-spray explode from the glass. On the palate, the wine is dry and zippy with flavours of walnuts, dried apricot, sea-spray and savoury spice. Extremely versatile, this refreshing Sercial can be enjoyed with oysters (raw or baked), grilled seafood or a platter of assorted nuts, olives and firm cheeses.
Winery notes
"Of medium amber colour, this is a wine with a lightly smoked aroma of walnuts, apricots and vanilla showing its evolution. Dry on the palate and nutty and woody flavours. A complex wine with fresh acidity and an extraordinarily long finish."
Jancis Robinson
"Lustrous, layered orange/amber colour. Lightly cheesy nose. You're really aware of some age on this wine, which has real integrity and salty savour. It's a little firmer and fleshier than the H M Borges version and has real follow-through. Flavours of soaked cut peel. You could drink this before or with a meal. This with a beef tea or bouillon would be magical. Guaranteed to cure any invalid, surely? Super-clean, pure and revitalising. Though much lighter and drier than any Bual or Malmsey."
