Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"The bright, fruity scent of fresh nectarine intermingles with perfumed notes of citrus and coriander flowers. A vibrantly fragrant style, layered with a beeswax-like complexity and a subtle thread of anise. The palate is generous, with flavours of honeydew melon, Pink Lady apple and candied lemon. A spine of fresh acidity gives vibrancy and balance to the succulent and lingering, off-dry finish.
Grown at Ashmore Vineyard in Fairhall, adjacent to the mouth of the Brancott Valley, in gravelly clay-loam soils that are more typical of the Southern Valleys than the Wairau plains. This 27-year-old organically certified vineyard is trained on a two-cane VSP (vertical shoot positioning) trellis and is rigorously shoot- and fruit-thinned to regulate yield."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2023 Vintage)
"Invitingly scented, this single-vineyard wine was handled in tanks and seasoned French oak barriques. A full-bodied style of riesling, it is fresh and vigorous, with rich peach, lemon and apple flavours, gentle sweetness and appetising acidity. Already delicious, it’s a finely crafted wine, for drinking now or cellaring."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2023 Vintage)
"A completely delicious wine with as much texture and mineral intensity as fruit and youthful power. An off-dry expression packed with fruit intensity and acidity, a fine mealy quality surrounding flavours of lime and fresh makrut leaf, apple and apricot. The wild side of this wine shows through the lees and floral layers and ideas, each underpinned by a backbone of acidity, soil and fruit. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2033+."
93/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review (2023 Vintage)
"Ripe, almost tropical with mangosteen and passionfruit aromas, this explodes on the palate with sweet exotic fruit. Decadent expression with noticeable sweetness on the palate yet held tightly in check by driving acidity and phenolic structure to finish medium-dry. A blockbuster style of riesling that is packed full of flavour."
