Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"New Release, waiting on notes"

Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2026 (2023 Vintage)
"A complex and savoury bouquet, dried herb and tobacco, red berry fruits and a leesy wood smoke drive. The wine opens out in glass very slowly revealing flavours of preserved roses and raspberry, sour cherry and red apple. Layers of dried herb and mineral are encased with an abundance of fine tannins and acidity. Textured and firm, taut and youthful, lengthy and intriguing. Well made, complex and lengthy with best drinking form day of purchase through 2033+."

5 Stars & 98/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2023 (2021 Vintage)
"This is captivating and enticing on the nose with dark cherry, roasted nut, charcuterie and fragrant spice aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that's succulent and seamless. Splendidly framed by finely infused tannins, finishing wonderfully long and expansive. It's sumptuous with exquisite detail and poise, as well as alluring complexity, making it hugely appealing. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2033."

96/100 Jamie Goode, WineAnorak.com, August 2025 (2021 Vintage)
"Thrilling floral aromatics with sweet strawberries and cherries and some liqueur-like richness. The palate is all about texture: sleek and smooth with real elegance and some nice sleek red cherry fruit, covering the structure. There’s a chalky note on the finish, too. The tannins melt into the fruit really nicely. So expressive and fine, a beautiful Waipara Pinot."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"Certified organic, the 2021 vintage was grown in the steep, hillside Brothers Block, hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 16 months in French oak barriques (42 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby, it has a very fragrant, complex bouquet. Mouthfilling, it is very savoury, with deep, ripe cherry and spice flavours, complex and already very approachable. Best drinking 2025+."

Greystone Wines is a family-owned vineyard located in the Waipara wine region in Canterbury, New Zealand. Since its establishment, the vineyard has quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the region, particularly their award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The vineyard is situated on the slopes of the Teviotdale Hills, which provide an ideal microclimate for growing grapes. The soils are rich in limestone, which gives the wines a unique mineral character. Greystone Wines is committed to sustainable viticulture practices, and they use a range of organic and biodynamic methods to manage their vineyards. They also have a strong focus on low-intervention winemaking, which allows the grapes to express their natural terroir.

The winery produces a range of wines, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. As mentioned, all of the wines are made using traditional methods, with a focus on minimal intervention and maximum expression of the vineyard's unique terroir.

One of the standout wines from Greystone Wines is their Pinot Noir. Past recognition includes being judged Best International Pinot Noir by Decanter Magazine, with its complex nose of dark fruit, spice, and earthy undertones and a palate that is rich and full-bodied. The Chardonnay is another standout, with a beautiful balance of fruit and acidity, and a long, elegant finish.

Visitors to the vineyard can enjoy tastings and tours, and there is also a restaurant on site that serves locally sourced, seasonal food.
