Winery Notes (2023 Vintage)
"With age comes maturity, wisdom, and (it would seem) good taste. Every year, our Classic Riesling comes together from our venerable selection of some of New Zealand’s oldest Riesling grapevines. We hand-select small parcels from each long-established vine to get a medley of different fruit characteristics, ranging from Meyer Lemon to Mandarin Orange. The result is as deliciously complex as you’d hope from a life this well lived.
Aromatics are reminiscent of mandarin pith, red apple and dried stone fruits. Vibrant, intense, focused palate with orange, and stone fruit flavours held together by good line of juicy acidity and elegant texture."
93/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, March 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Bright, light gold colour. Complex and layered nose with vetiver, flint, subtle aromas of spice and honey over stone-fruit and citrus. The medium-dry palate is powerful and very ripe, with touches of marmalade, creamy honey and spice. Youthful, decadent and intense, it carries the sweet, honeyed flavours right to the finish where a touch of pithy phenolics and piercing acidity act in tandem to tame the sweetness. A flamboyant riesling!"
91/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"The 2023 Classic Riesling is lush and round, with lime juice, chalk, white pepper, shaved fennel, layers of green apple and saline acidity. The wine is soft in the mouth and full of flavour and delivers a kind of sumptuous drinking experience. Good!"
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Delicious, fresh and off-dry in style with flavours of citrus peel and moments of orange and mandarin then apples and a lick or marmalade. Taut textures from acidity and style off-set the gentle tickle of sweetness then flavours of apples and citrus continue throughout the palate. Well made and ready to drink from 2024 through 2030."
