Gold Medal – NZ International Wine Show 2023
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Framingham Marlborough Chardonnay is a wine that relies on harmony between fruit and winemaking technique to achieve balance. Mealy aromatics, subtle toasty oak notes with nectarine, hints of citrus and custard. A textured palate with a powerful presence. Flavours of stone fruit, oatmeal, and vanilla bean.
Fruit sourced from three sites and are incorporated into this wine. Clones 95 (60%) and Mendoza (40%) where used. No sulphur was added to the juices at the point of extraction which then were fermented spontaneously in a combination of seasoned French oak (90%) and stainless steel (10%). All components underwent malolactic fermentation and were aged on full ferment lees for 10months. Overall, about 20% of the wine saw new oak in 500L puncheon format."
Rated Excellent & 93+/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"A delicious wine ticking all the boxes of texture and ripeness, flavours of yellow stone fruits and citrus then flavours of peach custard and vanilla. The mouthfeel is excellent with a firmness from the mix of fruit and wood tannins, core fruit intensity and acid line that stretches the across the palate with ease. Taut, youthful and dry with a light chalky texture, a balanced and judicious use of oak; a wine that will develop nice over the next 1-3 years. Best drinking from mid to late 2024 through 2028."
