Winery notes (2014 Vintage)
"La Lapine is only declared in exceptional vintages and is considered one of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. One of the most ancient grape varietals known, Sauvignon Blanc is regarded in Europe for her elegance, structure, and ability to age. The vine is also the Mother of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2014 La Lapine was allowed time in the cellar to further develop complexity and offers luscious flavours of white peach, warm citrus, and honeycomb, with underlying layers of savoury herb and flint wrapped in a silky texture. It finishes long, and focused."

"Wonderfully complex and alluring, the bouquet shows citrus peel, golden apple, and savoury pastry aromas with a flinty overtone. The palate is equally enticing with terrific concentration and presence, together with saline texture and beautifully infused acidity, making it captivating and structured with an impressively long, refined finish. At its best: now to 2029."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Doglas MS, April 2023 (2014 Vintage)
"A captivating bouquet of complexity and bottle-development, ripe citrus and tropical fruits, a lees and mineral core. Fragrant with fresh herbs and fruit spice, some mineral and ferment complexities. A satin texture touches the palate first then acidity drive through flavours of lemon peel and apple, pineapple and fresh herbs. The lees and ferment characters layer in complexity and spice, length and breadth. A delicious wine with texture, mouthfeel and flavour, varietal qualities with a herbaceous layer and tropical fruit frame. Best drinking from 2023 through 2027."

"La Lapine is only declared in exceptional vintages and is considered one of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
There’s one style of sauvignon blanc that’s built for the long haul, and it’s this. Get the big goblets out, make sure it’s not too cold (I prefer this at room temp), and swirl as if your life depends on it. Oxygen will help it open up to reveal abundant intensity. Toasty, oaky complexity combines with layers of lemongrass, fennel, smoked passionfruit, and jalapeño. It’s a style that holds solid minerality and acidity and sings with spring greens and leek gratin."
