Foradori, whose name is nearly synonymous with that of the Teroldego grape, began experimenting with making wine in terracotta amphora in 2008 when the purchased the very first tinaja from Spain. Today the winery has nearly 250 amphora, now sourced locally.
Sgarzon means ‘shoot’ in local dialect and is the name of Foradori’s 2.5 ha site, planted in 2003 and characterised by its cooler position and sandy soil.
This single vineyard wine is made of destemmed whole berries fermented on skins in terracotta amphora for 8 months, yielding a vibrant nose of red cherry and floral notes. On the palate it is fresh, full-bodied and layered with elegance and a long mineral finish.

"Deep crimson, very similar to the colour of the 2020, ie no sign this is a year older. The aroma is a little deeper and more intense compared with the 2020, perhaps less delicately aromatic, a touch more savoury. There is still that dark-red fruit character, more dark (but not sweet) cherry, and the floral note is still there but it is deeper and needs to be found rather than offering itself so freely. Tannins are slightly firmer but still with that super-fine grain. There's tension and energy and a sense of life waiting to explode. Gently chewy texture and mouth-wateringly fresh on the end. Succulent. Amazing length."
