This is one to "buy by the case" according to Italian expert Antonio Galloni. A wonderful wine is organically grown in Chianti's warm southernmost reach, Berardenga near Montalcino, it balances classical restraint with the style's inherent brightness and savoury charm. Medium in body, maximum in complexity and finesse. Cellar or decant this with a superb dinner.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Ruby red with deep intensity and hue. Fruity, fine and elegant aromas dominated by wild berries, along with array of spicy notes. Fruity on the palate with good tannins and a lingering finish."

"A firm and silky red with cherry, dried flower and orange peel aromas and flavours. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and focused finish. Needs a little time to soften but I already enjoy the energy here. Drink or hold."
92/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous (2021 Vintage)
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga is boisterous and expressive right out of the glass. Dark fruit, earthiness, leather, spice and tobacco convey tons of Castelnuovo Berardenga character. The 2021 keeps getting better in the glass. It's a super-classic example of the house style and a wine readers should consider buying by the case. The Berardenga bottling can be a bit wild, but in 2021 has an added touch of sophistication that is undeniable."
