Elephant Hill Chardonnay remains one of the standout value buys in the shop.
We were recently reminded just how impressive it is, earning an outstanding 95-point score from the globally respected Wine Enthusiast. That puts it in rare company, alongside Chardonnays sitting well into the $100-plus bracket.
This special pricing won’t last much longer, so it’s well worth stocking up while the opportunity is here.
Elephant Hill is recognised as one of the star wineries in the Hawkes Bay gaining recognition and accolades for many of their wines. The new vintage Elephant Hill Chardonnay 2024 another fantastic offering, showing fantastic presence, length, balance and texture. It has a fruit purity at its core but it is very much a multi-layered Chardonnay with well-judged savoury elements.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Chardonnay is our flagship white variety at Elephant Hill. Classic, fresh seaside Chardonnay with a small portion from our warmer inland Earth side adding richness. 100% handpicked Chardonnay, fermented in a mix of tank and barrel, with partial malolactic and extended time on light lees. 16% aged in new French barrique for 11 months."
95/100 Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast, April 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"This Hawke's Bay bottling offers up heady, oh-so-Chard aromas of peach, pineapple, melted butter, and a toasty coconut nuance. The palate is tighter and fresher than the nose implies. There's creamy texture and toast aplenty, but it's all cut through by vibrant acidity and tropical and citrus fruit freshness."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"A delicious wine, taut and dry with core flavours of ripe grapefruit and white nectarine, there’s a sea-spray quality then flavours of mineral and stone, red apple and leesy complexities. Palate textures include a fine tannins and medium+ acidity which also frame the core fruit flavours of pomaceous and stone fruits. Well made, youthful and ready to drink from mid to late 2026 through 2033."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Stylish and elegant, the wine shows ripe peach, rockmelon, nougat, and almond meal notes on the nose, followed by a beautifully weighted palate that's succulent and fleshy. Splendidly supported by bright acidity, finishing persistent and refined. At its best: now to 2030."
