A superb aged Pinot Noir from the limestone soils of the Waitaki Valley. Made by the Legendary Grant Taylor, someone one knows a thing or two about making high quality Pinot Noir.
The Otiake River Vineyard in the Waitaki Valley produces a unique and exciting expression of Pinot Noir. The Waitaki Valley winegrowing region, New Zealand’s coolest with its limestone hills and gravelly river valleys, provides an exciting opportunity to create something truly expressive.
Bright, energetic and wild, this Pinot Noir opens with a bouquet of wild cherry, raspberry and violet, joined by forest herbs and a whisper of earthy undergrowth. On the palate, juicy red fruits are underpinned by lively, precise acidity and fine, softly gripping tannins. The middle weight is carried by a savoury, spiced finish, a harmonious interplay of fruit, spice and wilderness that lingers long.

93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2023 (2015 Vintage)
"A bouquet of place and time with an integrated message of light red fruits and fallen leaves, english tea and preserved fruits. There’s a leather and spice quality too with cinnamon and dusty vanilla. Dry on the palate with fine tannins and medium acidity, fresh and drying fruits then flavours and flowers mirror the bouquet along with tea and baking spices. There’s a core of Waitaki limestone and clay as well. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2026."
