Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Our flagship Pinot Noir, sourced primarily from our southern block. It carries the name of Surveyor – John Turnbull Thomson linking both the land and its fruits to the vineyard owners, PM and David Hall-Jones family heritage.
Lush redcurrant, violet and spicy doris plum notes aromatically. The palate shifts into a thightly interwoven array of textural drive showing presence, depth, poise and elegance."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"Gorgeously complex and alluring, the bouquet shows dark berry, dried herb, porcini, game, and roasted nut aromas. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent weight and plush texture, wonderfully framed by finely infused tannins, finishing impressively long and expansive. At its best: now to 2035."
94/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, February 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"The 2022 Surveyor Thomson Pinot Noir is magnificent, because it possesses the same fruit profile of the 2021, which I like very much—albeit with a caveat—yet it is not punctuated by the same tart acidity. Here, everything feels very much in harmony and cohesion, and the pomegranate fruit is both spicy and subtle. Everything is in balance, not a hair out of place. This is so lovely."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"Ripe and varietal, there’s no mistaking the impact of ripe fruits and use of barrel, scents of cherries and raspberries wrapped in a mix of new and older wood and in turn wrapped in a sense of site and region with a fine savoury and dried herb core. Dry, firm, youthful and taut, a wine that will need to rent your cellar for a few years just to settle into a rhythm of ageing and integration. Flavours of dark berries and spice, stony earth and chalky tannins. Well made and just needing some develop time. Best drinking from 2028 through 2036+."
