Domaine Thomson was the vision of David Hall-Jones and his wife PM (short for Pui Mun) and encompasses the wine operations in the northern and southern hemispheres.
In 2000 they established a 14 ha vineyard at Lowburn, Central Otago. They also owned a property in Burgundy and in 2013 became the first New Zealanders to own a vineyard in Burgundy producing.
Today the original vision holds firm. PM and her family continue the path she and David began together — one vision, across two hemispheres — crafting wine that reflects the nuances of the terroir and the diversity of the vineyards.
Domaine Thomson’s Bourgogne Blanc is a finely crafted Chardonnay sourced from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards in the heart of Burgundy. The estate, founded by New Zealanders Clive and Phyllis Thomson, brings a unique international perspective to traditional Burgundian terroir, focusing on sustainability, purity, and elegance. This cuvée reflects a restrained, mineral-driven style with subtle oak and excellent finesse. An elegant, mineral-driven white Burgundy with a modern edge—perfect for Chardonnay lovers seeking finesse and freshness. Not to be missed!
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2026 (2022 Vintage)
"Many classic attributes of white Burgundy are woven into this wine, for me the scents of peach and cashew, grapefruit and clay, red apple and limestone. The voice of site and oak then fruit and soil deliver a bouquet and palate for Chardonnay that is the essential signatures of a region renowned for satin-cream mouthfeel contrasted by acidity and white fleshed fruit flavours, citrus and nut. Well made, dry and lengthy with a mineral quality some salinity and lengthy finish. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2032."
