The vineyards of Domaine Lafond have been in the family for several generations. The Lafond family has a long history in the Southern Rhone Valley that dates all the way back to 1780. Lafond family created Domaine Lafond in Roc-Epine in 1970.
Today the wines are recognised as reference points for the appellations of Lirac and Tavel. Under the guidance of Jean-Pierre who built the current cellar in 1970 and now son Pascal, the wines have gone from strength to strength. In total the domaine has 74 hectares under vine and produce 4 appellations: Tavel, Lirac, Cotes du Rhone, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. With their insistence on control at all stages of viticulture and the winemaking process they have achieved remarkable results. In 2012, Domaine Lafond turned to organic farming.
This Côtes du Rhône is a classic blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah that’s brought up all in stainless steel. It’s a medium-bodied, charming red that has lots of dark fruits, peppery herbs and earth aromas and flavours. Drink it over the coming couple of years.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Very tasty with aromas of ripe fruit, cherry, blackcurrant and undergrowth. Soft in the mouth with good concentration. You will find a very round and charming wine in your bottle."
