From another superb vintage in the Rhone, this is bursting with rich dark fruit, spice and florals. Soumade are experts in their hometown of Rasteau, where the fruit ripens into expressive wines that massively over-deliver on the modest price. This is partly thanks to water-retaining clay soils which help vines in the Southern Rhone heat. This sees no oak, as per tradition, but is fully tank fermented to reveal the full force of that beautiful pure fruit. Delicious!

"Pure black cherry notes and an enticingly fresh demeanour. Silky and fresh on the palate, a very classic expression of Rasteau. Generous, full of fruit, concentrated but not excessive, with no oak to obscure the terroir. Clay limestone soil, hand harvested."
