This wine is a winner, we don’t often see value from Piemonte that this wine offers. Literally meaning ‘8 skins’, Ottobucce refers to the 8 grapes which have been blended to make this wine: Offering of red fruits, vanilla and spice and all things nice. Layered and smooth.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"The choice of the name “Otto bucce” wants to emphasize the unicity of this wine. Litteraly “8 skins” of eight different grapes have been blended to make this wine: Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa, Bonarda and Albarossa, autochtonous grapes and symbolic wines of the Piedmont’s region and international vines such as Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon which contribute to give roundness and structure to this wine with an innovative character. The result is a very well balanced wine where each grape express itself in harmony with the other. Traditional red winemaking process and blending of the grapes. The wine then spends 12 months in the traditional big barrels and concludes its refining in French oak barrels.
It has a ruby red colour with purple highlights. The bouquet is intense and harmonic; pleasant and delicate notes of red fruits, vanilla and spices. On the palate it is elegant with a pleasant winey taste."
90/100 Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast (2022 Vintage)
"With a dense colour, the wine immediately reveals intense sweet and savoury spice aromas followed by dark and ripe black-fruited characteristics. Lush on the palate, it offers blackberry, spice and fine tannins. A flashy wine that makes a statement."
