"DeMorgenzon, ‘the morning sun,’ was so named as it is the first part of the Stellenboschkloof valley to see the sun because of its high altitude and aspects. We cover the top southern and eastern slopes of Ribbokkop, overlooking the pinnacle of Kanonkop from where a cannon was fired to alert the farms in the region that a ship had put into Table Bay. The first road from Cape Town to Stellenbosch ran through the Stellenbosch Kloof.

The vintage promises a vibrant stone fruit profile, with notes of citrus, green apple, and hints of tropical fruit, along with a subtly integrated oak backing. The wine carries beautifully onto the palate, showing apricot, ripe lemon and ripe apple notes, with structure and minerality.

Sourced exclusively from DeMorgenzon’s own Chenin Blanc vineyards. Southerly and South-Easterly aspect vines overlooking False Bay are managed for optimal exposure to gentle morning sunshine. Granitic soils result in grapes with excellent natural acidity and flavour concentration, a trait further enhanced by our intentionally low yields."

"This has always been a fascinating and fun wine to taste and enjoy. Aromas and flavours of fresh and roasted apple, white flowers and packed with mineral-clay and fruit spice. There’s a delicate sea-spray like quality that comes through on the palate as as a salinity, then flavours that reflect the bouquet. Apples and white fleshed fruits, clay and mineral then spice. A delicious wine ready to drink from day of purchase through 2030+."
