Back on form, perennial favourite The Stump Jump in its classic GSM mode is tasting better than ever from the 2017 vintage. With generous fruit, soft tannin and plenty of interest, sub $12 drinking just doesn't get better than this!
The design of this label is inspired by an optomertist’s eyechart and serves as a makeshift sobriety test. If you can hold the bottle at arm’s length and still read the front lablel, you can enjoy another glass. (This statement is of humorous nature and not to be considered a test of blood alcohol for the purpose of driving a vehicle, cooking with hot oil or entering into political discussions with the inlaws.)
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"This is a value packed wine that punches well above its weight. The bouquet is open and fruit driven displaying an abundance of red and black fruits, mixed with deft touches of spice and earthiness. You'll find generous proportions on the palate, with lots of sweet juicy fruits, ripe for tasting. The roundness of Grenache, sits on top of the solid structural foundation of Shiraz and is punctuated by the tight, punchy line of Mourvedre. The three varieties coexisting in perfect harmony resulting in a balanced wine of great length and depth. At a touch over two years old this wine is just starting to come into its own and promises to drink well over the next three to five years."
90/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Sweetly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows raspberry, Black Doris plum, olive and toasted nut aromas, followed by a beautifully supple palate that's juicy and lingering. It's upfront and silky with bright fruit intensity, making it instantly appealing. At its best: now to 2022."

90/100 Tyson Stelzer (2016 Vintage)
"Party time! Stumpy is one of the most multitalented wines to pull at a BBQ or lob into your tent or kayak because GSM goes with virtually everything, anywhere! It tastes like Redskins and redcurrants, with just the right level of mixed spice and fine-ground structure to keep the party under control."
