Born in a 150 years old family of winegrowers, Daniel Dampt is running the 30 hectares of vines, including 16 hectares of Chablis and 14 hectares of Chablis 1er Cru of which in particular of Vaillons, Fourchaume, Cote de Lechet, Les Lys and Beauroy. Daniel Dampt takes care of the whole wine making process, which is a key factor for the quality of the wines.
Now, his sons Vincent and Sebastien work on the domaine. After some training periods in New Zealand and Australia, they are the fresh touch with some new ideas.
Dampt's Village Chablis comes predominantly from old, 40-45 year-old vines that grow near the family Domaine, in the hamlet of Milly. There is no oak used here, allowing the individual character of the Chardonnay grape, grown on the chalky hillsides, to be crystal-clear. Colour is bright, pale lemon-green with very fresh, pure lemony aromas. This is a lively, intense, bright wine, with rounded body, admirable concentration and a zesty, crisp finish.
