Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2023 Vintage)
"A bouquet with shape and form, immediate complexity. Aromas of complexity with a distinctive fruit, spice and winemaker's style delivered all at once. Lees and stone fruits, peach, grapefruit and mineral. Lovely weight and texture with a generous satin-cream mouthfeel. A dry wine with flavours of new wood and stone fruits, nectarine, citrus peel and leesy nut qualities. Well made, complex, lots of mouthfeel and finish."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2023 Vintage)
"For its premium Chardonnay label, Clearview aims for a 'big, grunty, upfront' style – and hits the target with ease. It's typically a hedonist's delight – an arrestingly bold, intense, savoury, mealy, complex wine with layers of flavour. Hand-picked from mature vines at Te Awanga, it is fermented and matured in French oak casks (typically 40 to 50 per cent new). Already drinking well, the 2023 vintage is a bright lemon/green, weighty and sweet-fruited wine, with rich, vibrant, stone fruit flavours and a long, harmonious, slightly creamy-textured finish. Best drinking 2027+."
91/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, July 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"A rich wine with an almost glycerol olive oil feel to it, a slick richness, peach and papaya, with a cashew and cinnamon dusted pastry character. It has some gently juicy acidity, and while it’s kind of viscous, it does have some balancing fresh pineapple acidity, a little struck match, and juicy fruit to close on a finish of solid length. There’s an old school richness here. an echo of fleshy and fine Chardonnay times from days of yore, though all up, I quite like its buttery tropical charms. It’s quite a lot of wine, but pleasing in that way."
