Gold Medal, Best Value & 95/100 – Decanter World Wine Awards 2024
Gold Medal & 95/100 – International Wine Challenge 2024
Gold Medal – Concours des Grands Vins de France Macon
Gold Medal – Concours International de Lyon
The Decanter World Wine Awards is arguably the most influential wine show on the planet and included in the results is a list they call "The World's 20 Best Wines Under £15" – these are wines that have been awarded a Value Gold Medal and then rejudged to select the pick of the crop. As the judges say… "Signifying outstanding quality for value, these are ‘everyday’ wines that overdeliver for the price."
Included in the list from the 2024 show is this smart SGM Blend (60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre) from the Languedoc region in the Southern France.
Awards like this one see worldwide demand for the wines soar, but gratefully a small amount has made it to New Zealand. It has since all been allocated but we have managed to secure a pallet for our customers!
For good measure, the wine has also been awarded a Gold and 95/100 at the International Wine Challenge – another highly regarded wine show and a couple more golds on the local French wine show circuit.
Once it's sold through there will be no more, and it is likely to sell out very quickly. Grab yours now to avoid and disappointment.

Decanter World Wine Awards Judges' Comments (2022 Vintage)
"Succulent and concentrated with flawless blackberry fruit melded with black pepper and dried herbs. The lush richness is tempered by silky smooth tannins and clearly defined structure."
IWC Judges' Comments (2022 Vintage)
"Depth of flavours and complexity in the wine – leads to notes of attractive cherry red fruit, black plum, white pepper. Inky, vibrant, vein of minerality. Opaque, intense damson and liquorice, sprinkle of herbs, plummy fruit and tightly structured."
Wine Merchant Magazine 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"This stunningly good value GSM blend is sourced from an estate between Corbieres and Minervois. There’s a lot going on: its earthy base supports rich black coffee notes, cloves and cinnamon, leather and smoke, and it’s all held together by a fragment, floral freshness. Powerful but food-friendly."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Superbly ripe and richly expressed, the bouquet shows blackberry, smoked game, potpourri, and roasted hazelnut aromas. The palate is equally impressive with terrific weight and concentration, wonderfully framed by plump mouthfeel and beautifully melded tannins, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2037."
93/100 Tony Love, WinePilot.com, June 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"A very approachable and well-crafted Syrah (60%), Grenache (30%) and Mourvèdre blend that drinks deliciously, juicily and with a decent seam of minerally elements, some ferrous notes, and neatly threaded tannins around the mouth that do build its body weight a touch, yet still allowing rich, ripe crimson fruit flavours to persist. Plenty to like here."
93/100 Ken Gargett, WinePilot.com, June 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"A really delicious red from the Languedoc region, from a highly regarded vintage. This is inky dark maroon in colour. The nose gives us aromas of dried herbs, truffles, spices, roast meats, mulberries and dark berries. Very much an evocative nose. The palate has focus, balance and length, but at the moment, dominated by the abundant tannins, giving quite a firm grip. The palate also sees the emergence of more chocolatey flavours. Terrific drinking and should remain so for the next six to eight years."
