When we last stocked the world beating 2018 vintage of this wine a couple of years ago it sold out in a flash and it has taken some time to access another vintage. The modern style was a huge hit and we are very pleased to introduce the 2020 vintage which we think is every bit as good as the 97 Point Decanter award winning 2018.
This is fantastic buying. Côtes du Rhône is a hugely popular style and this one ticks both the quality box and value price. This is a beautifully made, super flavoursome and deliciously drinkable red from the Southern Rhone from an excellent vintage. Ripe dark fruits are enhanced with spice and herbal notes, the palate is soft and juicy with fine acidity and silken tannins.
Included in the prestigious French Le Guide Hachette des Vins Selection 2023.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"The Cellier des Dauphins vineyards lie in the Rhône Valley, the foothills of the southern Alps rising in the distance. In these terroirs, sun-drenched vines swaying in the southern breeze, grow the renowned grape varieties that have made the Côtes du Rhône famous.
This wine displays a deep red hue with ruby tints and notes of sun-ripened black fruit on the nose. The palate offers a velvety texture and spicy notes underpinned by ripe black fruit, blackcurrants and black cherries. A more modern take on the traditional Côtes du Rhône style, this wine combines structure, freshness and smooth tannins. It has a seductively elegant, intense and long-lingering finish."
Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast (2020 Vintage)
"Reflective of the generous 2020 vintage, this wine delivers for its affordable price tag. Enjoy notes of cherry-strawberry leather roll-up with a light dusting of cinnamon, fresh plum and blackberry. Enjoy now and aerate for all notes to harmonize."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2023 (2020 Vintage)
"It's delightfully fruited and inviting on the nose with sweet cherry, warm spice, nutmeg, game and floral aromas, leading to a succulent palate offering supple texture and firm sturdy tannins, finishing long and structured. At its best: now to 2026."
90/100 & Buy of the Week, Bob Cambell MW, The Real Review, May 2024 (2020 Vintage)
"High-energy Côtes-du-Rhône with floral, violet, mixed spice aromas adding up to a moderately complex red that is elegant rather than blockbuster, and very drinkable. A blend of grenache with syrah. Good value at this price."

97/100 Judges Comments, Decanter UK (2018 Vintage)
"This is delicious! Very classy and appealing aromas of flowers, garrigue, spice and forest floor. On the palate sweet vanilla oak marries into the charming and svelte herbal, red and blue fruit mix. It is full of flavour, super supple, super drinkable and authentic. Bouquet, taste, finish: all are magnificent."
