Importer notes (2020 Vintage)
"Casalforte Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is the boldest expression in the Casalforte range, produced by Collis Heritage, a grower-owned company representing over 2,000 small-scale farmers across the Veneto. These growers provide the fruit from hillside vineyards where traditional methods still shape the wines—methods like the drying of grapes for Amarone.
Made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, the grapes are naturally dried in hillside warehouses until January, concentrating their sugars and flavours. After a long, slow fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in oak barrels, building richness and complexity.
The result is a deep garnet red wine with aromas of cherry liqueur, cinnamon, walnut, and dried flowers. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and velvety, with notes of black cherry, vanilla, and roasted coffee."
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Grapes are dried in temperature and humidity controlled warehouses in hillside locations till December. Fermentation for about 20 days on the skins with constant pumping over. Oak wood aging for 18 months and in bottle for 6 months.
Casalforte Amarone della Valpolicella is a full-bodied red wine with a garnet red shade. Its complex bouquet recalls cherry jam, ripe black cherries and spicy notes of vanilla and licorice. On the palate it is juicy, well-structured with a fresh and fruity finish. It pairs perfectly with rich pasta dishes, game and grilled or stewed red meats as well as mature cheeses."
