Peter Robertson has been making wine in the Hawkes Bay so long (since the 1970s) that he can be regarded as a 'legend"; quietly making wines from his own vineyards without the need for critical acclaim. This new release from the excellent 2022 vintage has us quite excited. The terms 'smooth and delicious' are very apt descriptors for this dark, juicy Syrah.
Winery Notes (2022 Vintage)
"Youthful in colour, the 2022 back Block Syrah exhibits plum, pepper, ripe tannins, subtle oak, vibrance and complexity. Syrah enjoys growing in heat with free-draining soil, and Ohiti Estate is the perfect site. The Back Block Syrah is a blend of the Mass Selection and 470 Clones, thus adding to the complexity."

91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2022 (2021 Vintage)
"It's sweetly ripe and fragrant on the nose with dark plum, rich floral, tar and hazelnut aromas, followed by a succulent palate offering bright fruit flavours with silky texture and fine tannins. Well rounded and attractively drinking. At its best: now to 2027."
