"If you have not yet discovered the great values of Bodegas Borsao, it´s about time you do."
Sometimes you just want a soft, juicy, flavoursome red that doesn't cost the earth…. Borgia by Borsao Garnacha will do the trick with its dark berry, bramble fruited flavours and soft tannins. Organically produced from Grenache old bush vines.
Bodegas Borsao was establised in 2001 and is a collection of three of the most progressive co-operative cellars in the Campo de Borja zone southeast of Rioja. Grapes come from 620 member growers covering 2,500 hectares, nearly a third of the region's total. Vineyards lie in the undulating foothills of the Moncayo mountain, up to 700m above sea level. In this rather severe and arid climate, with hot dry days and cool nights, Garnacha thrives and represents 70% of total production.
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Sweetly ripe and elegantly complex, the bouquet shows dark plum, game, mixed spice and toasted almond characters. It's wonderfully fruit expressive in the mouth delivering succulent flavours backed by fine-grained tannins, finishing lingering and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2027."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Aromas of red flowers and sweet red plum, violet and a crumbly clay pot soil quality. Delicate brown spices and a soft woody quality add complexity and charm. There’s a fine powdery tannin texture that touches the palate first followed almost immediately by flavours of plum and red berries, rose and nut. A youthful acid line with an exotic quality on the nose and palate. Balanced, well made and ready with excellent drinking from 2022 through 2026+."
