Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Lemon straw with green hues. Aromas of citrus peel, fig and stone fruit. Toasty oak with hint of flintiness. Full palate texture integrated with a seamless finish."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2024 Vintage)
"The classy, vibrant 2024 vintage is not identified on the label by sub-region, but recent vintages have been hand-harvested at Havelock North and in the Tuki Tuki Valley. Handled in French oak casks (20 per cent new), it is a light lemon/green, full-bodied wine, with excellent intensity, delicacy and vigour. Refined, it has peachy, citrusy flavours, gentle mealy and biscuity notes adding complexity, fresh acidity and a finely textured, lingering finish. Youthful and very savoury, with a more 'cool-climate' feel than many Hawke's Bay Chardonnays, it's very ageworthy; best drinking 2027+."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, July 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"A complex and enticing bouquet with layers of citrus and stone fruits woven through wood spice and nut, some oak-smoke and stony soil ideas. Full-bodied and dry with a bold raw silk texture, then mouthfeel from fruit and wood tannins along with acidity for freshness and bite. A youthful wine still with integration and further complexities to come. Well made and lengthy with best drinking from mid to late 2026 through 2033."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Juny 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Gorgeously complex and seductive, showing golden peach, rockmelon, vanilla, cedar, and almond meal characters on the nose. The palate displays excellent concentration and plush texture, wonderfully structured by bright acidity, finishing long and satisfying. It's powerful yet with grace and refinement, promising to evolve magnificently. At its best: 2026 to 2034."
91/100 David Walker Bell, WineFolio.co.nz (2024 Vintage)
"From their estate vineyards on the north-facing slopes of the Havelock Hills in Hawke’s Bay. A pale straw colour in the glass. Classic ‘Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay’ aromas rise with a good swirl. Peach, lemon, grapefruit and tropical fruits. There is a good toasty note that will appeal to many, and warm baking spices add more depth and richness too. That oak is a good frame for the sheen of fruit, and the fresh acidity gives energy and flow through the palate. An oatmeal character then emerges, mixing into the silken texture that cossets the back of the palate, leading to a satisfying finish of good length."
