Buy OnlineA single vineyard Chardonnay from Trelinnoe (tree-lin-o) Vineyard on Roys Hill named for the owner’s historical ties to Cornwall. The Roys Hill hillside terraces are sandstone over limestone and are planted with clone UCD15 Chardonnay. 2021 was a spectacular vintage for Hawke’s Bay and this Chardonnay shows greatness of the vintage. Ripe, full fruit and complexity perfectly balanced with the oak influence results in a classic, tight Chardonnay, moderately restrained in its youth but with time it will open up to rich, food friendly wine. This wine is ready to drink on release and will continue to develop positively for 6 – 8 years.

"From a vineyard on Roy’s Hill in the Gimblett Gravels region of Hawke’s Bay. Hand-picked, whole-bunch-pressed and fermented in French oak barriques before 11 months in barrel. No additives other than sulphur. Taut, pure chardonnay with flavours of lemon curd, grapefruit and mineral—like licking marble. Impressive purity and subtle power. The wine has a seductive, ethereal quality that is difficult to describe but easy to appreciate. Should develop well with bottle age."

"Already delicious, the 2021 vintage was grown in a single vineyard at Roys Hill (not la collina). Bright, light lemon/green, it is full of youthful drive. Mouthfilling, it has concentrated, ripe stonefruit flavours, mealy notes adding complexity, impressive vigour and complexity, finely integrated oak and a lasting finish. Full of personality, it should be long-lived; best drinking 2025+."
