Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Lifted aromas of black cherry, violet florals, warm cloves and cinnamon. Lifted ripe aromatics of blackberry, lavender and warm spicy oak balance with a palate of rich cassis, dark fruits and a plush textural tannin before an elegant and silky finish.
The Goldfields Pinot Noir is grown in Central Otago’s elevated glacial terraces with seams of greywacke, schist alluvium and overlying shallow Manuherikia fine sandy loam.
Handpicked fruit is chilled then sorted and destemmed into fermenters at our Gravity fed winery. A 7 day cold soak was followed by inoculation with selected Burgundian yeast strains. Daily plunging and an extended maceration have helped achieve a harmonious tannin balance."

"A linear and focused pinot noir with dark-cherry, pencil-shaving and black-pepper character both on the nose and palate. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold."
Reviews for the 2020 vintage below…
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2023 (2020 Vintage)
"An excellent bouquet with a core of pure ripe red berry fruits from raspberry and boysenberry to plum and baking spices with a dried herb savoury quality and complexity. Youthful and delicious as the wine touches the palate, flavours mirror the bouquet with red berry fruits and barrel spice, then savoury highlights layer in texture along with complexity and length. Clove and vanilla, baked nut and wood-smoke. Best drinking from 2025 through 2035."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2023 (2020 Vintage)
"Sweetly fruited with savoury complexity, the wine shows dark cherry, bouquet garni, smoked game and dried mushroom aromas on the nose, leading to a silky-smooth palate that's succulent and flavoursome. Wonderfully framed by polished tannins, finishing long and velvety. At its best: now to 2029."
