The AA Badenhorst, Secateurs Chenin Blanc is a rich and concentrated Chenin Blanc from very old vines, un-irrigated and farmed as organically as possible. Flavours of ripe apples and honey and a creamy texture give the wine richness and weight whilst retaining the thrillingly zippy tang of Chenin's acid backbone. It will cope beautifully with roast pork or roast chicken and would do a rich fish pie serious justice.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"The 2023 spent time on its lees in concrete tanks and old casks – this is an important part of the maturation and gives incredible texture and palate weight to the wine. Chenin blanc has a lot of structure on it’s own, but we added just a tiny bit of Semillon and Grenache blanc to the wine to round it off. The aromas are flinty with honey, orange blossom and white stone fruit notes."

92/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, September 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Squeaky, clean, texture, brightness, soft citrus characters, yellow stone fruit, a little nougat, fresh and really easy to drink. Some quiet detail set around bready notes/grilled nuts too. You’d drink this by the gallon. So would your pals. Easy."
88/100 Neal Martin, Vinous (2020 Vintage)
"The 2020 Chenin Blanc Secateurs, which comes from 26 different vineyards, is matured in 500-litre barrels and stainless steel. It offers attractive yellow plum, dried honey and candle wax scents and just a touch of bruised apple in the background. The palate is well balanced with a spicy, stem-ginger-tinged entry, fine acidity and a subtle curry leaf note springing up on the finish. Just a delightful, easy going Chenin Blanc from Adi Badenhorst."
