Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Incredible Albariño grapes harvested from Doug Bell’s vineyard in Gisborne. These are the very first 18 rows planted in New Zealand – make that Australasia! Planted in 2009 with a mass selection of Albariño vine plantings and dry-farmed on clay loam soils. Grapes were harvested on the 11th of March. The dry season led to very low yields and intense flavours.
After 12 hours of skin contact the Albariño juice was cold settled and then fermented at cool temperature. Post fermentation and maintained on full lees for 8 months with regular stirring to enhance palate texture. Filtered prior to bottling.
Enticing aromas of perfectly ripe white peach, nectarine and citrus flowers. A lovely finely textured palate with incredible purity and crisp dry finish."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"It's finely scented on the nose, showing apricot, lemongrass, lime peel, and white pepper aromas, leading to a brightly expressed palate offering excellent weight and persistency. Splendidly styled with fruit purity and elegant complexity, finishing long and mouth-watering. At its best: now to 2028."
