GSM is a red wine blend consisting of Grenache, Syrah/Shiraz, and Mataro (also known as Monastrell or Mourvèdre). Originating in France’s Rhône Valley, GSM’s New World milestones includes its establishment in the mid-1800s in Australia and a 1980’s revival in California. Grenache earns pole position in the GSM acronym as the traditional dominant partner in the blend, adding soft, candy-sweet berry flavour. This is complemented by Mourvèdre’s deep colour and tannins, along with earthy notes and gamey complexity. Shiraz’s contribution is dark fruit flavour and muscular structure, and an aromatic complexity including smokey aromas. GSM is a luscious, lovable crowd-pleaser.
