Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"On release it is a bright lemon/lime colour. The abundant aromas and flavours suggest ripe quinces, pawpaw, rose petal, Turkish musk, oriental spice and sherbet, underpinned with hints of sandalwood and honeysuckle. In the mouth, the wine is rich, big boned, unctuous and complex with an impression of freshly crushed ginger that complements the off dry finish."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2016 Vintage)
"Exotic, powerful, distinctive and alluring bouquet; pineapple and stewed apple fruits, quince and white peach then honeysuckle and ginger spice - complex! On the palate - creamy textures, spices, honeysuckle, apples, white peaches and trifle; medium+ acidity, great texture and length. A delicious wine loaded with personality and spunk. Drink now and through 2020."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
Grown at Waipara and fermented with indigenous yeasts in large old barrels, the outstanding 2016 vintage was made from 'very ripe' grapes, with 'some noble botrytis'. Powerful (14.5 per cent alcohol), it has a beautifully perfumed, spicy bouquet, leading into a weighty wine with rich, well-spiced flavours, vague sweetness, gentle acidity, and unusual complexity and harmony. Highly expressive in its youth, it's already delicious.
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, December 2016 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright, light golden-yellow colour with good depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full and voluminous with, bold, up-front and deep aromas of ripe tropical and exotic fruits, with lychees, root ginger and minerals, along with musk, Turkish Delight and honied elements. Medium-dry to taste, the palate has mouthfilling flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, exotic tropical fruits and root ginger layered with Turkish Delight, musk and honied notes, forming a deep, well-packed heart. The palate has weight and presence with the lush flavours balanced and driven by alcohol power and enriched by the warmth. The acidity is integrated, lending some roundness to the mouthfeel, and the wine exudes a subtle unctuousness. The alcohol power and fruit richness carry the wine to a strong, sustained, sweet and savoury, spicy, aromatic finish. This is a rich and luscious, weighty and powerful medium-dry Gewurztraminer with exotic fruit, root ginger and musk flavours with some alcoholic power and drive. Match with Middle Eastern and Chinese cuisine over the next 4+ years. Late-picked fruit with some botrytis, given some skin contact and fermented in seasoned oak to 14.5% alc. and approx. 15.0 g/L RS."
