Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"When viticulture and winemaking work in synchronicity, the end result is naturally elegant wine. At Paxton we grow grapes and make wines that radiate purity, vitality and elegance. David Paxton and Richard Freebairn have combined their decades of experience and embraced Biodynamic and Organic practices to produce the healthiest vines and highest quality wines. Biodynamics is the most advanced form of organic farming. We use natural preparations and composts to bring the soil and vines into balance, resulting in wines that truly showcase and preserve the unique vineyards of McLaren Vale.

A pretty perfume of raspberries and mulberries with a hint pomegranate and tarragon. The palate delivers bright red berry fruits with a soft and silky mid palate and finishes with elegant and juicy tannins."
96/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion, April 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"A shiraz grenache that only McLaren Vale can provide: complex, rich and layered, black and red fruits providing a mosaic of flavours on the medium+-bodied palate. The tannin and oak management can't be faulted - it's a lovely wine at a bargain basement price."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2015 Vintage)
"The wine combines shiraz fruit power with silky mouthfeel of grenache very nicely. The lifted bouquet shows blackberry, raspberry, violet and mocha characters, leading to a succulent palate that is velvety and creamy. The wine is instantly appealing and finishes impressively long and attractive. At its best: now to 2020."
4 Stars & 17.5/20 Raymond Chan, January 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Full, very dark, near impenetrable black-hued red colour, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is fine and firm with aromas of blackberry and dark-red berry fruits melded with subtle layers of earth and dried herbs, along with nuances of red liquorice, black pepper and spices. Medium-bodied, the palate has well-presented flavours of dark raspberry fruit with black notes, along with spices, pepper and subtle notes of earth and herbs. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, supple tannin extraction, structure and line, the plate sweetness lending accessibility. The wine carries to an elegant, moderately long finish of sweet dark-red and black fruits. This is an elegant Shiraz/Grenache blend with dark raspberry and black fruit flavours and subtle earth and herb notes on a supple palate. Serve with tapas and barbecued red meats over the next 5+ years. A blend of 65% Shiraz and 35% Grenache, destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in seasoned French oak barriques. Certified NASAA biodymamic."
89/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, September 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"It’s a throaty expression of Shiraz Grenache, and while it feels a bit warmer than its stated 14% alcohol, there’s no doubt it delivers 100% flavour. Blackberry and raspberry, some liquorice and chocolate, leather and gamey aromas. It’s full bodied, saturated with flavour and fine grained tannins, feels aglow with alcohol, but holds it together and finishes long and savoury. Hearty wine. Best drunk young-ish, I’d say."
