With a bright and silky "Pinot-like texture and vibrancy", this newby in the Janasse stable resembles their top Chateauneuf. Like the super-expensive Cuvee Chaupin, the Clos st Antonin is 100% Grenache grown — mainly on Chateauneuf's more sandy soils. This creates an open and giving wine, with dark berry and spice characters brightened by lively, aromatic red fruit and herbal, mineral complexities. A red of both dimension and charm.

"The Antonin 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape is a huge success in the vintage, and while it shows the softer, more supple style of the vintage, it doesn't lack depth, density, or complexity. Black raspberries, spring flowers, lit gunpowder, and peppery garrigue all give way to a medium to full-bodied, flawlessly balanced 2020 that's already hard to resist. This cuvée always shines for its elegance, and the 2020 is no exception."
92-95/100 Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2020 Vintage)
"Assembled from three parcels of vines, the all-Grenache 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape offers up gorgeous aromas of garrigue and red raspberries. Full-bodied and rich, it's concentrated, long and complex, folding in hints of chocolate without ever seeming overripe or heavy. Drink 2023 – 2035."

97/100 Wine Enthusiast (2019 Vintage)
Mulled blueberries and dewy rose-petal notes perfume this silk-textured Grenache. It’s a rich, powerfully penetrating wine that fills the palate in pools of black-cherry and berry flavours, but maintains a thrilling mineral freshness and vitality. Framed by fine, silky tannins, it’s approachable already but should improve well through 2040 at least."
