CLEARVIEW BEACHHEAD CHARDONNAY 2017 is available to buy in increments of 1
Clearview are well known for producing big and powerful Chardonnay and the latest release of their Beachhead is that and more. The Beachhead is always very popular and the 2017 gives a good nod towards the big, bold old school style while retaining a freshness to keep it relevant today.
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Barrel fermented, full bodied chardonnay showing cashew nut aromatics supported by a creamy stone - fruit and peach flavour profile.

All the grapes were hand picked from our Estate vineyards, and whole bunch pressed. After settling, the clear juice was racked into seasoned and new French oak barrels where fermentation took place with regular stirring of the lees during the 8 month maturation in the same barrels. A large portion of the wine has undergone Malolactic fermentation for added texture and complexity. After maturation the wine was carefully racked and bottled in mid January 2018."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"It is instantly appealing on the nose showing ripe stone fruit, orange peel, toasted hazelnut and brioche characters. The palate is succulent and beautifully rounded, and delivers excellent fruit intensity combined with creamy texture and well-integrated acidity, finishing persistent and silky. Wonderfully flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2020."
5 Stars Cuisine Chardonnay Tasting, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Clearview and chardonnay have a long, happy association and fans of the label will enjoy this new offering. It has a traditional-meets-new wave feel – plenty of ripe peach and lashings of oak, supported by a light, flinty seam. It’s also marked by a vibrancy and length that leave you wanting more."
5 Stars & 18.5-/20 Raymond Chan, March 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged. The nose is softly full and well-proportioned unfolding good volume of white stonefruits harmoniously melded with flint, nuts and minerals. The aromatics build in concentration with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a strong and positive heart with well-packed flavours of white stonefruits and a layer of complexing gunflint, nutty lees and minerals, and nuances of oak. The flavours are mouthfilling and the wine is finely textured, with balancing, piquant acidity. Some underlying alcoholic power carries the wine to a long, lingering, nutty, flinty finish. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked estate fruit, WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 10% new French oak undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"This Hawke's Bay winery has a reputation for powerful Chardonnays, and top vintages of this label are no exception. Estate-grown and hand-picked on the coast at Te Awanga, the 2016 vintage was fermented and matured for eight months in French oak barrels (10 per cent new). Light lemon/green, with a slightly buttery, oaky bouquet, it is full-bodied, in an 'upfront' style with generous, peachy, slightly creamy and toasty flavours. Still very youthful, it has considerable complexity; open mid-2018+."
