Nestled in the Entre-deux-Mers appellation on Bordeaux's right bank, the estate dates back to 1782 when Bordeaux wine merchant Bernard Chénier first planted its vines. Over the years, Château Marjosse underwent significant transformations, especially after Alban Deleuze took ownership, modernizing the property while entrusting winemaking to caretakers. In 1990, a young winegrower, Pierre Lurton, began renting plots and, by 2013, became the estate's full owner. His efforts brought about the construction of a state-of-the-art cellar and a renewed focus on quality winemaking.

Today, the vineyard spans 40 hectares, with a blend of young and centuries-old vines thriving in clay-limestone soils. Red varieties include Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the whites feature Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon, and Muscadelle. Lurton, together with technical director Jean-Marc Domme, introduced plot-based vinification and limited micro-cuvées to express the vineyard's unique terroir, crafting elegant wines that showcase the rich aromatic character of Entre-deux-Mers.

Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Château Marjosse Rouge is a Bordeaux wine that stems from a dedicated vineyard of 40 hectares. The vines, aged between 25 and 75 years for the oldest, are located on exceptional clay-limestone soils.

The colour is dark and intense. The nose has a lovely freshness, releasing fragrances of blackberry and mint. The palate entices with its balance and its silky and creamy texture. Scents of citrus fruit and bitter orange mingle harmoniously until a persistent finish. Chateau Marjosse is best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, and grilled dishes. Chateau Marjosse is also good when matched with Asian dishes, rich fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, and pasta."

93-95/100 Lisa-Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independant (2022 Vintage)
"The 2022 Marjosse is a blend of 75% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec. Owner Pierre Lurton commented, “We have a lot of chalk and clay at Marjosse, so we never have a problem with freshness. We recently bought a small plot of Cabernet Franc, which did very well. It was a long harvest starting on 5th September and ending at the beginning of October. We had to go very light on the extraction and we couldn't use any of the press juice because it was too powerful.” The wine has a deep garnet-purple color and shoots from the glass with energetic notes of fresh, juicy blackberries, warm plums, and kirsch, followed by hints of cardamom, dusty soil, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is coated with bright, expressive black fruits, supported by a lively backbone and plush, velvety tannins, finishing long, with a spicy lift. Well placed to succeed in these hot, dry vintages and with a good proportion of very old vines, which tend to handle these climatic conditions very well, this is likely to be one of the best bargains of the vintage."

93/100 James Suckling (2022 Vintage)
"This is pretty and vibrant, showing subtle cream to the red berries, currants and citrus on the nose. Quite firm and juicy on the palate with lightly chewy tannins and a fine, medium-long finish. Merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Drink from 2025."

92/100 Decanter, Georgina Hindle, April 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Fragrant notes on the nose, fresh, fruity and floral. Succulent and supple, fresh acidity hits the palate first, a burst of red fruit – so juicy and alive, before the mineral, salty and liquorice tang takes over with the strict tannins giving tension to the wine. Really well made, intense but detailed and sleek. Lively, I love the burst of fruit with the minerality taking the fore at the end. This will be extremely drinkable. Drink 2025 – 2036."

91/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous (2022 Vintage)
"The 2022 Marjosse is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous to the core, the 2022 offers up copious blue and black fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and a kick of spice. This extroverted, juicy red delivers the goods."
