A great deal on this full flavoured Chardonnay. Westbrook Barrique Fermented Chardonnay comes from fruit grown on the Wiffen vineyards in Marlborough. Fully fermented in French oak, it is pale gold in colour, with a silken creaminess and hints of nougat. Definitely in that "Old School" style and released after four years from vintage offerings perfect drinking in a medium to full bodied, classic style.
Ripe summer stone fruits, refreshing citrus oils and toasty oak is balanced with layers of brioche, restrained butterscotch sandalwood and clove notes. Richly textured, with a mouth filling presence and fine freshness.

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"A beautifully styled chardonnay; the inviting bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, nougat, cedar and brioche characters, leading to a succulent palate that is wonderfully weighted and rounded. The wine offers excellent fruit intensity together with refined oak undertones, complemented by creamy texture and silky mouthfeel. Flavoursome and immediately appealing with loads of tasty flavours. At its best: now to 2021."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"An immediately engaging bouquet with aromas of oatmeal and peach, moments of clove and vanilla then sweetness of toasty oak, baked apple and grapefruit. Complex and youthful. On the palate – silky then creamy with sweetness of oak and vanilla then quince, peach and apple flavours. Fine tannins, medium+ (ish) acid line, balanced and well made with an intriguing light flinty gun-smoke note. Best drinking from today and through 2023."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 vintage)
"Drinking well now, the 2017 vintage was grown in Marlborough and French oak-matured. Light gold, it is mouthfilling, with loads of peachy, nutty, toasty flavour, woven with fresh acidity, and good complexity."
