From the Gunn family’s famous 'Skeetfield' vineyard. 100% Old Vine Mendoza Chardonnay fermented and matured for 12 months in Taransaud French oak barriques. This is a suave, detailed wine with a real sense of power. Stunning.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"The Skeetfield Vineyard has old vine dry-farmed Mendoza Chardonnay vines. The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with minimal settling. This wine was 100% barrel fermented and matured, with 60% new Taransaud French oak. Indigenous ferment and malo-lactic ferment have provided complexity and depth. Battonage on lees has yielded a superb textural quality. Minimal handling to bottling has preserved the purity and intensity of the wine. Skeetfield is a wine with exceptional power and grace, and will greatly reward the patient."
Rated Outstanding & 97/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"A complex and appealing bouquet of white fleshed fruits and gun flint, apple and new barrel, layers of fine lees suggesting chalk and fresh unroasted nut. Equally complex and delicious on the palate with a crisp and finely textured mouthfeel, acidity is on point carrying a fine lees and saline texture, flavours of white fleshed stone fruits and citrus are persistent adding weight and finesse, complexity comes from the synergies and purity of fruit, spice and nut. Such a well made wine reflecting its vineyard and expert wine making. With a lengthy finish this wine will reward those who invest and cellar. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030+."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2022 Vintage)
"The classy, single-vineyard 2022 vintage was hand-picked from mature vines at Ohiti, and fermented and matured for a year in French oak barriques. Bright, light lemon/green, it has a fragrant, complex, youthful bouquet. Mouthfilling and savoury, it is a vigorous, finely structured wine, with concentrated, yet delicate, peachy, slightly citrusy and biscuity flavours, oak-derived complexity, fresh acidity and a lengthy finish. Best drinking mid-2025+."

"This is seductive and enticing on the nose showing apricot, rockmelon, nougat, roasted hazelnut and oatmeal characters, leading to a superbly weighted palate displaying outstanding concentration and depth. Seamless and flowing, the wine offers richness as well as refinement, finishing impressively long and creamy. Flatteringly classy and hugely appealing. At its best: 2024 to 2036."

5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, September 2022 (2021 Vintage)
"Made from grapes grown on mature, unirrigated Mendoza-clone vines in a top vintage. 100% barrel-fermented and matured with 60% new Taransaud French oak. Intense, powerful chardonnay with citrus, oyster shell/saline, white peach and spicy oak flavours. This impressive wine can be enjoyed now but should develop even greater complexity and integration with bottle age."
