The grape of Beaujolais. Soft, supple, juicy and very moreish. Sweet red berrys lightly floral flavours. Perfect on its own or with spicy foods.

Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"The unique ‘maceration carbonique’ fermentation, which enhances the fruit and floral aromas of the wine, was used for 53% of the grapes. The other 47% received a traditional, warm, red wine fermentation. The resulting wines completed their malolactic fermentation and were matured for seven weeks in seasoned French oak barrels, before blending and bottling.

A cherry bon-bon on the nose, Estate Vineyards Gamay Noir ’17 entices with fresh raspberry, juicy strawberry and sweet, red, toffee-apple. Cherry-red with a vibrant purple edge, gamay’s soft tannins give the palate moreish balance and weight. Flecks of aniseed and baking spices run through to the long finish. Delicious with depth, sippable with substance, Estate Vineyards Gamay Noir ’17 has character and charm, as well as oodles of red fruit freshness and immediate appeal."

Paul Tudor MW, noted.co.nz, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"The fabled gamay variety of Beaujolais can make serious, ageworthy reds, but here it is employed to produce a bright, fruity, light wine that is really versatile from a food-matching perspective. Cherry-berry fruit aromas, aligned with a brooding, woodsy undertone, moderate tannins, but with crunchy acidity on the finish — a fun red to chill on hot days, or serve at room temperature when the weather turns cold."

16/20 Jancis Robinson, June 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Pale crimson – looks like a red Spangle (hard candy) in colour. Yes, I can just get a Gamay nose here! And the texture is just right, with bite and juiciness. Lightweight and actually lower acidity than a typical Beaujolais but a ‘pleasant’ drink."
