Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Te Kairanga Runholder Pinot Noir is a nod to Martinborough’s pioneering namesake John Martin, who once farmed the land with sheep, earning him the name of ‘runholder’. This Pinot Noir is sourced from Te Kairanga’s home vineyards planted on his original land holdings. Beautiful deep crimson hues lead to an aromatic flurry of cherries, forest bramble and classic Martinborough savoury, earthy notes. The palate displays vibrant wild berry fruit flavours finishing with fine silky tannins. A perfect match for herb crusted lamb, Runholder Pinot Noir is very drinkable now but can be cellared for 5-8 years."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"The youthful 2019 vintage was estate-grown, hand-picked and matured for 10 months in French oak casks (16 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with fresh, concentrated fruit flavours of cherries, plums and spices to the fore, and considerable complexity. A bold, very ageworthy red, it's well worth cellaring to 2023+."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"The wine combines power and elegance; it is wonderfully fruited and splendidly expressed on the nose showing dark cherry, plum, vanilla and roasted nut characters with nuances of olive and dark mushrooms. It is concentrated on the palate, displaying succulent fruit intensity together with silky texture and supple tannins, finishing persistent and refined. At its best: now to 2026."
