Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"The 2017 Te Awa Syrah is deeply coloured with violet hues. Aromas of dark berries are complemented by secondary characters of black pepper and vanilla. The palate is complex, with sweet fruit flavours of boysenberry and raspberry balanced by notes of cedar and a chalky texture. Full bodied in the mid-palate, the natural acidity and supple tannins give the wine lovely freshness and persistence."
5 Stars, Best Buy & Number 4, Cuisine Syrah Tasting, June 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A dynamic wine with fragrant ripe herbs and a hint of smokiness. The energetic palate is beautifully balanced with raspberry, black currant and pepper flavours. Impressively structured with defined tannins and beautiful length."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"The 2017 vintage of this Gimblett Gravels red was matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads (35 per cent new). Deep ruby, savoury and spicy, it is full-bodied and lively, with good density of youthful plum and black-pepper flavours, slightly earthy notes, and a firmly structured finish. Best drinking 2021+."
